Who am I, really? Well, it has been more than a year now since I started this blog, so today I thought I would take a moment to reintroduce myself for newer readers.
I’m Bradley Bowen, a queer fantasy author working toward publishing my debut novel, Crystals of Ulstra, later this year. (I’m currently editing the second draft.)
Originally from Texas, I’ve called Northern Colorado home since 2018. I have a degree in sociology, but I’ve built my career in digital strategy, marketing, communications, and fundraising for progressive political campaigns and non-profit organizations.
I’ve been vegan since 2019. I don’t consider myself preachy about it, but I strongly believe that we can (and should) strive for a society that doesn’t rely on animal cruelty.
I’ve been reading in the fantasy genre for as long as I can remember. My favorite authors—Ursula K. Le Guin, Mary Stewart, J. R. R. Tolkien, and more—inspired me to pick up my own pen (well, keyboard) and tell epic fantasy stories of my own. Now, I am especially drawn to writing the queer fantasy I wish I’d grown up reading.
In addition to writing and reading, I’m learning to speak French and play guitar. I enjoy watching professional wrestling (AEW) and playing video games on my PS5.
I am constantly listening to music, whether streaming my favorite artists or spinning records from my extensive collection. I also attend an unhealthy amount of concerts, one of the few experiences where being in a large group of people doesn’t deter me.
I live with my playwright partner and our mischievous (but adorable) cat, Sutton.
