Here’s a look at some of the progress made on Crystals of Ulstra in June 2026.
I really buckled down this month! With just over five months left until Crystals of Ulstra is published on December 4, time is of the essence. I took that to heart in June and made some major progress.
Here are some exciting updates from the past month from the world of Ulstra:
- I finished the second draft of Crystals of Ulstra. This has been a long time coming! I finished the first draft a year ago on my birthday. Looking back, I wish I’d hired a professional editor sooner, but I’m still proud of the work I did on this second draft. The book is in much better shape than it was.
- I worked on line edits and developmental edits throughout the book. This is a big one. Working with a professional editor has been a game changer for Ulstra. I can’t wait to see how much the manuscript has improved when we finally finish it.
- I drafted the author’s note for the book, including content warnings. It’s important to me that people can make informed decisions about what they’re going to read, so I’m glad to provide this information.
- I commissioned new character art. Yes, I know I have a problem. But at least all of you benefit from the pretty new portraits and illustrations! I’ll be revealing some of them very soon.
- I planned a new short story from the world of Ulstra. When I trimmed the POVs in the book, one of the hardest to cut was Delfen’s perspective. So I’ve decided to write a story based on one of the scenes that didn’t make it into the book. I’ll probably offer it as an incentive for street team members.
I’m excited to see what my update looks like at the end of July. I hope I’ll be getting close to the end!
By the way, if you’re ready for a taste of Ulstra now, sign up for my newsletter and you’ll get instant access to my short story “Guardians of the Grove,” a prequel to the novel.
