Koralo is a gentle Mago forest guardian from Arbardio’s Grove. He is the protagonist and one of the four POV characters in Crystals of Ulstra. When royalist interlopers set fire to the forest he’s sworn to protect, Koralo is drawn into the mad king’s war to defend his home and the magic in his blood. He finds his courage—and even falls in love—along the way.

She leads the Konsilio of Mago, which governs the world’s mages, and Magiakademio, the academy where Mago hone their emotional magic and train for various professions. She lives with haunting secrets from her past—threads threatening to unravel Ulstra’s future.

Gerda is an adventurous crystal seeker from the mountain stronghold of Zirkono Minado. They lead a crew of miners in pursuit of Ulstra’s magical and restorative crystals, such as fluorite and rose quartz. When they are captured by royalists and used to locate the rare diamond deposits for the king to exploit, they must escape—and wrestle with revenge.

Lazuro is an entitled, arrogant prince of Kastelspajro. He is the son of Rego Aglo, the tyrant king. Lazuro yearns for his father’s crown. He is in entangled in an illicit relationship with a royal vizier. He has a equally ambitious twin brother named Cartrezo. When his life is threatened by rebels and he’s exiled from Kastelspajro, the prince learns he was betrayed by someone he loves, resolving his determination to return home and inherit the throne.

Roko is a dashing, confident Kavaliro from Glavo Brilo and member of the legendary Order of the Silver Sword. He meets Koralo at the start of the war and guides him on the journey. Roko is an opinionated, staunch anti-monarchist. He is determined to win Koralo’s heart.

Glacimonto is a Druido of Mistika with abilities to channel elemental magic and take the form of an arctic lynx. When he is accused of a crime he didn’t commit and banished from his home, he finds himself allied with the rebellion against Rego Aglo. He considers it his only hope to reunite with his daughter, Malva, and to clear his name before his life ends.

Tondra is a disciplined Gardistona captain from Zirkono Minado, an ancient citadel nestled among the red mountains of the Zipo Montoj range in northeastern Ulstra. She can be stubborn and dogmatic, but she is also charismatic and resilient. When Gerda is captured from the mines, Tondra leads a unit of warriors into battle to find her sibling.

Cejana is an ambitious Mago of Taumaturgio who serves as an attendant to Maven Rubena. She wants to model herself after Rubena and eventually lead the Konsilio of Mago the way her mentor does. When Rubena leaves the magical city for the war, Cejana is left to oversee the contentious politics back home that threaten the rebellion’s success.

Delfen

Delfen is a forest guardian of Arbardio’s Grove and bonded Kavaliro to Koralo. The pair are best friends and essentially brothers, having been inseparable since their youth, when they bonded over the untimely deaths of their fathers, who were also bonded partners. Delfen accompanies Koralo and the rebels to war before receiving life-altering news that forces him to choose between continuing to fight or returning home to care for his family.

Caro Grifo

Caro Grifo is an immortal Druido chieftain who lives among the griffin dens of Arbardio’s Grove. He can take the form of a griffin and channel elements. One of the oldest beings in all of Ulstra, he considers it a duty to rid the world of Rego Aglo’s tyrannical imperialism.
