Exploring the Romantic Relationships in Crystals of Ulstra
Crystals of Ulstra is an epic fantasy, but it’s still got plenty of romance. Most of the main characters have a love interest. I’ve discussed the relationships on my blog before, so today I thought I’d recap the highlights featuring beautiful artwork by Amanda Webb.

Koralo and Roko are the primary pairing in the book. Koralo is a POV character and the protagonist. He’s a forest guardian from Arbardio’s Grove with a rocky romantic history. But when he is thrust into the war where he meets a dashing Kavaliro from Glavo Brilo named Roko, he realizes he hasn’t given up on love. Roko wants to be with Koralo too, regardless of the military’s rules about an officer and a soldier.

Delfen and Floranta are another couple who meet during the events of the book. Delfen is a forest guardian, bonded to Koralo. He is a Kavaliro eager to prove himself in the war and earn his silver sword. Floranta is Roko’s sister, so she grew up around soldiers, but she chose another path. She is the head gardener at Glavo Brilo’s famously productive greenhouses, often called the breadbasket of Ulstra. The pair of them meet by a stroke of fate that changes their futures.

Rubena and Napo have already been together for several years at the outset of the book. Rubena is a powerful sorceress, a political leader, and head of the magical school. Napo is a Kavaliro general who commands the troops in Taumaturgio. War and politics keep Rubena away from home, but her devotion to Napo never lapses.

Lazuro and Taguno are another couple who were already together before the book begins. Lazuro is a Prince of Kastelspajro. Taguno is the vizier to Lazuro’s father, the Mad King Rego Aglo. It just so happens that Lazuro wants his father’s crown for his own. If this affair were discovered, it would surely be categorized as a coup.
Now that you’ve met the lovers of Ulstra, I’m curious which couples you’re most intrigued to read about. Crystals of Ulstra is out on December 4. You can preorder the ebook on Amazon right now.
